Whole rosemary

Rosemary can be found on sunny and stony areas on the Croatian coast and islands.

It is usually grown in gardens and flower pots, but is very vulnerable to frost, so it has to be protected from the cold in the northern areas. It grows throughout the Mediterranean coastal region. The name rosemary comes from the Latin words ros (rose) and marinus (sea), or "sea rose". This means that the sea breeze help its growth due to the humidity it brings. As a spice, it is excellent in soups, stewed vegetables, meat and all types of roasts and soft cheeses.
