White rice

People have been using rice for over 5,000 years. The countries of origin are India and China, from where it was taken to Syria and Africa.

In Europe, rice was not frequently grown until the 8th century. It is one of the most important grains in the world and it is the basic ingredient for nearly half of the human population.

It is used in soups and salads, in fillings, as a side dish for meat dishes and as main course with vegetables, meat or fish. Risotto is the most famous dish made from shortgrain rice.
